Happy New Year!

This is my first official day back after a full month of holidays, which, incidently was one of my goals this year…to take a full month off this winter and head south! Susan and I had an amazing time in Southern California. We made it all the way down to San Diego where we only actually spent one day. It is a beautiful city but it was so like Vancouver it didn’t seem so special to us. The weather on the other hand is a whole other story. It was a cool day by their standards but we were OK with it being a sunny 65 degrees.

The highlight of our trip was our discovery of Santa Barbara! Actually the whole “central coast” was breathtaking but we ended up spending just about a week in Santa Barbara because we didn’t want to leave. Miles and miles of sandy beaches, warm water, vineyards/wine tasting, smoothie bars, funky coffee shops, biking, hiking, etc, etc. We are already planning our next trip there next winter. If you are ever down in Southern California check out the central coast and Santa Barbara!

Was surprised to come back to 3 feet of snow on Vancouver Island! We have snowbanks in front of our place 8 feet high! Glad we missed the worst of it though. Glad to be back sleeping in my own bed.
